José Blanco
José Blanco served as Minister of Public Works from 2009 to 2011 under Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and as Government Spokesperson in 2011. He chaired the European Council of Transport Ministers and led the response to major crises such as the closure of European airspace following the Eyjafjalla volcanic eruption and the conflict with air traffic controllers in Spain.
He built an extensive parliamentary career as senator, member of the Spanish Congress, and member of the European Parliament. Within the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), he held senior leadership positions, including Secretary of Organization and Deputy Secretary-General, while also coordinating electoral campaigns and leading the party’s organization in Lugo.
In 2019, he founded Acento, a consultancy specializing in public affairs and strategic advisory services for companies, institutions, and organizations.
